Right now my two year old is up watching Backyardigans showing no interest in the stockings and presents that Santa left ... barely glancing at the empty milk and cookies that Santa ate :)
We are just doing what we are doing every morning and nothing is different to him ... life goes on even though each day may be different around you!

Just waiting for his siter to wake up ... then the craziness begins :)

Blue Raindrop Earrings

These earrings look so delicate, sparkly, fresh and having so much movement making them super fun to wear.

They are made with a variety of aquamarine blue, crystal and topaz swarovski crystals on three silver head pins. There is another head pin threaded with a larger Aquamarine swarovski crystal bicone. They all hang down from a mint green square glass bead.

This is my newest etsy listing - I think they are so colorful and cheerful! But what do you think?

These earrings are so bright and cheerful you cannot help but smile. They make me think of a flamenco girls puffy, fun, bright, beautiful skirt.

They are made with a large honey nugget ice flake quartz bead (wow that is a mouth full) , followed by a skinny, simple silver hoop which has three adorable, bright and cheerful yellow/red/orange glass flowers hanging from it. Yummy and so much fun!

Dimensions: 8 x 8 x 3/4 inch deep (20.3 x 20.3 x 1.7 cm deep)

Koi are very hardy fish, like the carp, coming from Japan. They can live to be over 20 years old and some have been known to be over 100 years old.

In many of the Japanese stories, Koi are transformed through their efforts and perseverance, it is said that if they climb the dragons gate they great become dragons. The Koi is a symbol that represents perseverance in the face of adversity. They can also represents love, longevity, loyalty and knowledge.

I first applied gesso to the canvas to achieve a textured look. Then painted the background a light green, forest green, and bright blue. Finally the silhouette of the koi fish was painted on. The sides are painted a deep black and no framing is necessary - Ready for the wall!!

Finish will be applied at shipping time for protection. Each is signed on the back.

End of the week

Well here we are on Sunday, end of the week and what have you accomplished this week? Did you get what you wanted done? Was it a successful week or did you find yourself lost in the details?

For me I think I had a very successful week. Why do I say this, well one of my goals is to list items on etsy more regularly then post them here on my blog for all of you to see and ... I have definitely been able to get that done more than I ever have in the past.

I was also able to spend yesterday getting many of the items I have created photographed ... whew it took awhile but I have been wanting to get that done for some time. Yay, me :)

I also wanted to get a painting, that I have had in my mind, started for awhile and I also did that.

And last but not least I wanted to start an end of the week post so that I could wrap up what I was able to accomplish (or not accomplish) during the week.

I would love to hear what your goals were and if you reached them!

Here is a sneak peek at the painting I have been dreaming of - please remember it is in its starting phase!

The background colors have been added to the canvas and I have roughly drawn the subject in pencil where I think it should be.

These two pictures show the base colors painted on using acrylics.

Stay tuned for more ... I will post more as I go along so you can see how the painting progresses.

The Flowers in the Rocks Necklace

This is a beautiful necklace that has so many different colors captured in the "rocks", that it will go with any outfit.

The jasper beads are even more beautiful up close!

This necklace is made with jasper rounds that are linked individually through wire wrapping each one. The clasp is an incredibly beautiful silver flower toggle that is so gorgeous it could be the centerpiece on its own. The aventurine flower pendant is just incredible and tops off this amazing necklace. Stunning!

Pink and Bronze Necklace

This is my newest etsy listing;

I love this necklace and made it while thinking of my daughter, which of course makes it even more special to me. I was never a girl who was into pink until I meet my daughter and she changed all that (among so many other things).

The necklace is strung with swarovski bicone crystals in an incredible deep pink color along with bronze bead spacers, all on bronze beading wire. However the pendant is the pièce de résistance, made with blended pink and beige polymer clay. The main part is a square with a flower shape cut out. It was then stamped with a phrase and flowers, then I baked it. This is the phrase that can be partially seen.

****Some people come into our lives and quietly stay. Others stay for a while, leaving footprints in our hearts and we are never the same.****

I then went over that with gold paint to bring out the saying. It was then sealed to protect the paint. There is a small polymer clay bead in the center that is hanging from a twirling piece of bronze wire. This piece will not just highlight an outfit, it will make your outfit!

Sand and Sea Bracelet

My newest etsy listing;

I love the beach and the water and this bracelet was made with that in mind. There is nothing more beautiful or more powerful than the sea and nothing represents relaxation more than sand. Who wouldn't want the best of both these worlds on your wrist?

I made two of the beads out of tan and white polymer clay adding just a touch of sparkle so it reminds one of the sand. The largest bead was made of various blues and whites, swirled into chaos just like the sea often appears to be. The rest of the bracelet has white bone swirl rounds, jasper rounds, silver spacers, and heishi pearl shell spacers to compliment the sea and sand theme. The clasp, a silver flower toggle, is a show piece all its own.

This bracelet is about 7 1/2 inches long.

I've officially been TAGGED. This is a great way to get to know some incredible artists, please take a moment to get to know them. Thank you to Jewelled Trellis for tagging me!!

Well, now I have to think of 10 interesting things to tell you about myself!

1. I am the second daughter in a family of five girls. I know, I know ... everyone always says "your poor dad". There has never been much competition between us ... however if they are reading this ... I have always been the favorite! :)

2. I grew up on farms which probably explains why I am so drawn to nature and animals. There is such beauty all around us from the simplest leaf to the detailed expression of grief on a persons face. Both can make you feel such incredible emotions and memories deep within your soul.

3. "My name is Sherri and I am an addict" ... I am addicted to two things ... one is Diet Coke which is not really an addiction ... I mean seriously I can give it up anytime I want to *I type with one hand as the other is holding a Diet Coke* I am not making fun of addiction I seriously have tried to give it up and on a small degree can understand and definitely empathize with those dealing with addiction.

4. The other thing I am addicted to is crafting ... I also have an undiagnosed medical condition soemthing like ADD which means I am always trying new crafts. I love them all! I live to create, definitely not the other way around.

5. I love watching action movies-anything with martial arts especially.

6. My favorite music would be anything that is on the top hit list. I especially love Janet Jackson (**blushing** I have small crush on her), Justin Timberlake (again with the blushing), Usher, Black Eyed Peas and others. However I also enjoy Blues, occasionally Jazz and Country music, some classical ...

7. I am a mother to two amazing kids, which is a miracle unto itself since I never wanted kids. Just shows you what an amazing man can do for you! I have never looked back and love every minute of it!

8. I am extremely interested in asian culture, religion and arts and although my etsy shop does not reflect this love, my home does. I have Dalai Lama books littered every where, my (our) bedroom is done with an asian theme and my garden in spotted with asian statues.

9. I love to garden and often it is a toss up on which I love more; crafting or gardening.

10. I spend quite a bit of time dreaming of DIY projects I would love to tackle ... I often never find the time. But it is fun to dream about what could be!

I decided to feature this next artist because well first off she is spectacular, passionate about her art and a really great person. How do I know about the last point? Because she is my sister! She is an amazing photographer and that does not even come close to what a great person she is! I have had the answers to her questions for awhile but I wanted to do her justice so I hesitated about what to write. Finally I decided to just lay out the questions and answers she gave in its raw form so you can discover this amazing artist for yourself.

1. Tell me as much or as little about yourself as you feel comfortable with.
My name is Laura Odland, I am 1 of 5 daughters to two wonderful parents. I have recently moved to BC to finish my Tourism education, specializing in Adventure Tourism. My passions are photography, nature, wildlife and the ocean.
2. What inspires you?
Family, beauty, tranquility, serenity, the perfect light, nature and wildlife. This includes so many things a beautiful day that fills me with serenity, a foggy day that feels mysterious, the scents and sounds of the forest or ocean.
3. If you could trade places with someone for one day, who would that be?
Michael "Nick" Nichols or Art Wolfe, both professional Wildlife Photographers. Traveling to new locations to capture wildlife in their natural habitats. From a colourful bird in Costa Rica, to the Arctic Fox in the Yukon, to the Lion of the African Savannahs or my own backyard to capture the awe inspiring Orca.

4. How would you describe your craft/style?

My style is always changing, right now it is spur of the moment - not calculated. I always have my camera with me because I never know when I will see something that captures my imagination. I occasionally go out on planned photo shoots but most of the time it is what I see in my journey through life. It is often impatient, which I am trying to work on. With wildlife you often have to be very patient.

5. How long have you been creating?

I believe it has been 3 years now.

6. Is this your job or a hobby?

Right now this is my hobby. I have created a small business and have gone to craft shows but it is still mostly a hobby at this point. But it is also my life.

7. What are you goals for the future regarding your craft?

My dream career would be a professional wildlife photographer. Traveling to new, off the beaten path places capturing their wildlife on camera for others to witness. Right now my goals are to finish school, go into a partnership or start my own marine tour company. While out there showing others the beauty of the ocean, I will be able to continue to photograph all the beauty nature has to offer. Maybe one day people will be using my name to describe the epitome of photography.

8. What advice do you have for fellow crafters trying to sell their craft?

Be patient and proactive. To start take your craft to craft shows, festivals and markets. When you do this you open the door to people who may never and would never have a chance to see your craft.

'Mad at You' Monday

Hi everyone ... lets see what made me mad today ...

I really dislike when you go to a store, take the time out of your day to go down to a store, then when you are going throught the till or talking to the person there - they take a call. I am there in person but they give priority to the person on the phone! Very irritating!

What bugged you today? Nothing too mean, just let out a little pent up anger. It feels good!

'Mad at You' Monday

Mondays are always one of the hardest days of the week ... so I thought I would make Mondays 'Mad at You' Mondays where we could all vent a little start-of-the-week frustrations. Leave a comment about something or someone who mad you mad, got on your nerves or frustrated you today.
Ok ... ok ... I'll start ... lets see ... besides having to go to work?
Today I was annoyed by the technology we all so rely on ... at work I do data input and we just changed over to a new server that is incredibly slow!!!!! It is so frustrating to be typing and having to stop to wait for the computer to catch up (and I am not even that fast!).

See it is really easy ... let it out ... it feels good to let go of that anger.

First Ever Feature

I am so happy to feature this etsy artist, especially as my first ever feature. I could go on and on about her and have as you all have read previously so I will let her do the talking. The artist behind dharmadesigns is 34 year old Wendy Baylis. As she puts it she is "married to my best friend-although it took forever to find him". Even though she has Fibromyalgia she doesn't let it get in the way of having a full and happy life, including going for 10 mile walks every Sunday. Besides her jewelry, pencil potraits and blog, she is currently writing a fictional novel about a medical evacuation helicopter crew in the Vietnam War. She says she is a perfectionist and will work on something until she get it right. "I have such an over active imagination that I feel compelled to create. I paint, draw, write, cook ethnic foods, make cards and jewelry. You name it - if it's creative I do it." Wendy says that she looks up to all artists, especially those on Etsy. "I love handmade objects - whether it be art or practical every day items like laundry soap." When asked who she would exchange lives with if she could her answer is Bob Brier, in her words a fascinating Egyptologist. "I always wanted to be an archaeologist like Indiana Jones and unearth some fascinating ruins in Egypt or Asia". She would love to live half the year in Thailand and the other half in Nepal. Wendy has a profound love and respect for cultures and people of Asia which is evident in her jewelry and especially her blog. Although she jokes that she is not good at promoting herself she has no problem promoting the talented people on etsy something she hopes to accomplish on her blog. I have to say that from the sounds of it the only thing this talented and ambitious woman cannot do is dance, "I've got two left feet, so needless to say I'm not good at dance. I took it in highschool because it was required (seriously) and it was not only disasterous, but embarassing". These are my little monkeys ... in these shots they are being DIY "helpers".

Here a wrestling match broke out on our bed ... looks like the baby won!

At the same time my boys are wrestling, Brooklyn is showing off for the camera with her webkinz animals. She loves to glam it up for the camera and I love to catch her doing it!!!

My little man in all his beautiful glory!!! He is so adorable and the hubby is teaching him early about the love we have for the Yankees. Both my children are named after the New York Yankees ... Brooklyn for Brooklyn, New York and Jeter after Derek Jeter. Our dog's name is Yankee also. Let's just say the hubby and now the entire family is all about the Yankees!!!!

My Weekend

I haven't posted anything for a bit because we are having computer virus problems on our computer. Hopefully the hubby will be able to get it cleared up soon. After much trial and error and practice I was able to get these pictures uploaded.

This is what I did this past weekend ... restained our upstairs bathroom cabinet and painted the walls in our kitchen. I think both look way better ... however it makes the other projects we have on our list stick out like sore thumbs. All we need is time ...

New Feature Artist Coming Soon

I am going to have my very first feature artist very soon and I am so excited about it. For those of you who do not know of her this will be a special treat. Not only is she an amazing artist but she is also an incredible blogger who searches through etsy to find new and exciting talent. When I first started on etsy she was one of the handful of etsians who took the time to give me serious feedback on my shop and ideas on how to improve it. During that time she made sure to not only encourage me but all those asking for help. Where she finds the time I do not know but her blog features new artists constantly with incredible well written stories about each of them.
I am very excited and honoured to have her as my very first feature ... so stay tuned it will be worth your while.

Let the Games Begin

Finally I have decided to begin blogging ... I have had this blog for months and just couldn't bring myself to post anything. Why you ask?
1. I never really understood what blogging was all about. I sell on Etsy and time and time again I was told to drive interest you need a blog. I just didn't understand who would be interested in what I post especially with so many great blogs out there.
2. What should I post on this blog site? I didn't know what I could post that would interest people, while keeping it positive.
3. I do not really have any extra time with family including two young kids, a full time job, my etsy site, making jewelry/art/home decor, trying to get healthy/exercise and sleep.

I finally came to the conclusion that I do not have the answers to any of the questions but not having answers has never stopped me before so ... here goes.

I want this blog to be about things that inspire me ... this will probably range from family, friends, current events, etsy shops, other artists, other blogs, nature, gardening, ... well you get the point. All things inspiring and positive!
